The Knowing Garden Community Elementary School in Redondo Beach, California is hiring!

The Knowing Garden is looking for a Part-Time Teacher in our 7-9 year old class.  This teacher is a creative educator responsible for preparing constructivist and whole-child lesson plans in coordination with the lead teacher and TKG’s students.  The teacher also develops and implements outdoor and nature-based lessons and activities.
 
The TKG co-teacher is familiar with Core Standards concepts as well as progressive field practices and procedures.  Our teacher reports to the Lead Teacher and Parent Board of Directors in a flexible and self-directed environment.
 
Professional requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree
Multiple Subject Teaching Credential
2 Years Professional experience in field or related area
 
Key tasks related to Students and the Educational Program
 
1.     Prepare lesson plans, unit studies and support academic year goals
2.     Support Orientation Meeting
3.     Advise on Field Trip plans
4.     Maintain Written Assessments and provides portfolio access for each student
 
Key tasks related to the Board
 
1.   Reports periodically on all classroom status
 
Key tasks related to Staff & Volunteers
 
1.     Coordinates with Volunteer Coordinator regarding needs and feedback
2.   Supports channels of communication with parents, students, teacher
 
Key tasks related to the Community
 
1.   Participates in appropriate community organizations and functions to obtain support for the attainment of school goals
