Seeking a Dynamic Teaching Principal for a Unique Secondary School
The New School, located in Kennebunk, ME, is looking for a leader to empower our community. We are a student-centered, independent, democratic high school. The ideal candidate will actively collaborate with a motivated and involved body of students, parents, teachers, and volunteers to realize the school’s commitment to promoting tolerance, love of learning, global citizenship, and stewardship for the earth. Strong dedication to democratic processes and the ideals of consensus is a must.
The Principal will:
- Trust and support the capacity of young people to be responsible, active learners;
- Promote academic excellence through a combination of guided and independent study;
- Model life-long learning, citizenship, and stewardship;
- Support faculty and ensure they have opportunities for growth and development;
- Work with faculty to maintain continuity and consistency in the school’s programs;
- Promote the administrative structure and capacity to support community learning and growth; and
- Be a passionate, energetic, and articulate spokesperson for the school, communicating with a variety of audiences such as potential students and their families, professional educators, foundations, and individual donors to the school.
