Position Summary:
The Head of School is responsible for carrying out the mission, vision, goals and
policies of Wellsprings Friends School as established and adopted by the Board of
Trustees.
Responsibilities
- Helps to create and maintain a caring school community reflective of the
- unique values and beliefs of WFS;
- Provides leadership and support to staff, students and families;
- Develops and maintains a highly effective educational program;
- Works collaboratively with the Board to formulate and implement effective
- systems, policies and procedures;
- Understands and implements best practices in fundraising and fund
- development to ensures financial viability;
- Increases community awareness of, and support for, the school’s mission.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a teachable major (Master’s or higher preferred);
- Ability to work with a wide diversity of students (most particularly those
- with learning differences), staff and families in a caring, non-judgmental
- manner;
- Experience working with fundraising for non-profit organization (preferred);
- 3+ years demonstrated successful classroom teaching experience;
- Experience with alternative or non-traditional educational systems
- (preferred);
- 3+ years of school administration and/or curriculum leadership experience
- (preferred);
- Administrative or teaching experience with high school aged students
- (preferred);
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Familiarity with consensus model of decision-making.
Reports to: Board of Trustees
Salary and Benefits: Full-time, salaried position (Range $62K-$70); generous
benefits provided.
