Work At Bene Kids Space 2015 – 2016

Work At Bene Kids Space 2015 – 2016

Who We Are

Bene Kids Space is a small libertarian alternative to school for home schooled children aged 3-11. We are located in a lush valley in the beautiful Alpujara mountains in the south of spain, at the centre of an open off the grid anarchistic community; definitely a unique context for living and learning. Founded by an idealistic mum in Summer 2014, we now have 2 full time staff and a resident artist supporting 16 children (most of whom come part time) from 14 families.

What We Are Looking For

We've come a long way in a short time, but there is still have a long way to go. We are looking for a 3rd full time member of staff to join the team for next year, and help us to get there.

Full information about the aim and objectives of the school, the role of staff, and the staff working agreement can be found in the application pack.

All applications will be considered equally, but the ideal applicant would be.

  • Experienced working with children, ideally in free educational environments.
  • Committed to free / democratic / libertarian education.
  • Unafraid of living rustically, off the grid, in an anarchistic mountain community.
  • Self motivated, self directed, proactive, dedicated and full of energy and ideas.
  • Passionate about learning, children and education.
  • Committed to dialogue and reflection as a method of growing and learning.
  • Someone who adds new and interesting skills, knowledge and perspectives to our team.
Applicants MUST speak fluent Spanish and good English. A native spanish speaker would be preferred.

What We Are Offering

The most important thing we can offer is the rare chance for a passionate and idealistic teacher / facilitator to work in line with their beliefs, and be a part of creating something beautiful and right.

We are also offering an equal share of donations and a chance to collaborate as an equal partner with staff and parents to work towards the best education possible.

Finally, we are offering accommodation in a modest but beautiful cob house on the side of a mountain in a stunning setting, space to grow veg, and a chance to live a simple life close to nature.

How To Apply

For a full application pack, or if you have further questions, please contact us at kidsspacebene@gmail.com The closing date for applications will be the 1st August.
