Clara Barton Open School, a K-8 magnet school in the Minneapolis Public School System, is seeking a

visionary and dynamic principal to lead a teaching staff and parent community that is deeply committed

to the principles of progressive education.

 

Founded in 1982, the Barton program has fostered student-centered teaching practices built around the following qualities:

ABOUT MINNEAPOLIS PUBLIC SCHOOLS PRINCIPALS

The principal is a senior leader in the MPS system responsible for setting an ambitious vision for student achievement and leading the school community to realize the vision.  The principal strategically implements the school’s mission and effectively manages students, staff and resources to prepare every child to be ready for college, career, and life.

 

The principal is responsible for:

Education, Training and Experience

Master’s Degree in Education or a closely related field; AND three (3) years of professional teaching

Preferred Qualifications

  • Successful experience as a principal, principal intern, assistant principal, or teacher leader, preferably in an urban school
  • Exceptional results with raising student achievement
  • Experience transforming a team or organizational unit

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • A valid Principal’s license in the State of Minnesota
  • A K-12 education license from the Minnesota Board of Teaching
  • A valid driver’s license may be required

Who We Are
 
Bene Kids Space is a small libertarian alternative to school for home schooled children aged 3-11. We are located in a lush valley in the beautiful Alpujara mountains in the south of spain, at the centre of an open off the grid anarchistic community; definitely a unique context for living and learning. Founded by an idealistic mum in Summer 2014, we now have 2 full time staff and a resident artist supporting 16 children (most of whom come part time) from 14 families.
 
What We Are Looking For
 
We've come a long way in a short time, but there is still have a long way to go. We are looking for a 3rd full time member of staff to join the team for next year, and help us to get there.

  • Experienced working with children, ideally in free educational environments.
  • Committed to free / democratic / libertarian education.

  • Someone who adds new and interesting skills, knowledge and perspectives to our team.
Applicants MUST speak fluent Spanish and good English. A native spanish speaker would be preferred.

building and leadership skills to work as part of an energetic and collaborative team

working with Kindergarten and First Grade students in an experiential setting. We are

looking for someone skilled in creating an integrated curriculum immersing children in

the natural world through an innovative outdoor, project-based curriculum, with an

ecological and sustainable living focus.  All teachers and students spend significant time

outdoors, in all weather, including overnight experiences.  NJ certification accepted, but
