Below are the teacher responsibilities and expectations.  
 
Uphold school policies and procedures (document available on school website). 
Ensure compliance with federal and state licensing and regulations (safety, health and education). 
Develop lesson plans, conduct student evaluations, manage classroom, meet with parents and teach students. 
Attend all staff meetings, school events and required training.
Provide a blended curriculum and multiple approaches to best meet the needs of the classroom and each student.
Provide differentiated instruction (customized/individualized lesson plans  and assignments). 
Be a team player. We are ONE: We work as a team (administration, teachers, students and community).
Be familiar with and manage your classroom according to the LOPPA pledge.
Wear school uniform shirt everyday (wear appropriate bottom – solid colored pants or skirt).  Wear closed toe shoes.
Teach international / global studies (at least 20 minutes per day or 2 hours per week)
Be global-minded: respect all religious beliefs, political perspectives, cultures, ethnicities, races, creeds, etc.
Respect diversity: differences and similarities of teachers, students, administration and community.
Be able to maintain self-control and patience in handling uncooperative students.
Write incident, behavior and academic reports as necessary to send home to parents. Please provide a copy of these reports to the Director.
Director must review / approve all communications (notes, reports, assessments, etc.) sent to parents from teachers.
Be flexible (we are a small school and there will be times we may need your help in other areas outside of this job description).
Be innovative (use creative techniques and experiments in your classroom) to engage students and improve learning.
Clock in/out every day at work (as per your employment agreement).
Be on time (please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled time).
Assist in program planning, event coordination, fund raising & school development.
Ensure that equipment and facilities are clean, safe and well maintained.
Ensure children are supervised at all times.
Challenge students (teach at & above level).
Communicate effectively (clearly & concisely) with parents and members of the community.
Keep parents informed of program expectations, program activities and their child’s progress.
Establish routines and provide positive guidance.  Provide positive reinforcement (LOPPA bucks, behavior management strategies, etc.) in the classroom. 
Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the children in the program.
Provide nutritious snacks and lunches (menu/food provided by school).
Provide adequate equipment and activities (supplies provided by school).
Provide daily, weekly and monthly schedules of activities / lesson plans.
Develop culturally appropriate programs and activities.
Incorporate international / global learning in every lesson / activity (when possible).
Use LOPPA’s behavioral and academic assessment reporting methods/forms.
Ensure students recite the LOPPA Pledge every morning.
Provide moments for reflection / meditation each day
Provide character-based / spiritual education (at least 15 minutes a day or 1 hour per week).
Conduct an assessment in the beginning of the year (baseline) and an assessment at end of the school year to measure and document progress (records are sent to parents and the Director of LOPPA).
Manage lessons, plans and scheduling to incorporate quarterly projects: Math Project, International Project, Science Project & Entrepreneurship Project
Incorporate the Purpose Approach / Methodology in classroom
Be familiar with emergency procedures.
Discuss children’s development with parents.
Clean classroom (wipe tables, sweep floor, vacuum carpet, empty trash, etc.).
Discuss identified problems and needs with professionals as appropriate.
Participate in community activities.
Provide various global experiences and activities for children including songs, games, videos and story telling.
Integrate special needs children in a positive and respectful manner.
