In addition to\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tworking with young people every day as part of our learning community, staff are expected to do\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tthe administrative duties that accompany the effective functioning of a small, independent\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tschool.\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tSudbury School of Atlanta, located in Avondale Estates, GA, is a democratic PreK&shy;12 school\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tthat follows the Sudbury model of education. Students have tremendous freedom to pursue their\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tinterests at their own pace and in their own way. Student freedom is balanced by responsibility\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tto the democratic community where students and staff have an equal vote in all matters of school\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tgovernance, including making school rules, approving expenditures, and even renewing staff\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tcontracts.\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tStaff duties include:\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\u25cf Participate in a dynamic learning community dedicated to living out its democratic\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tprinciples\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\u25cf Support and empower students to find their passions and pursue their interests\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\u25cf Mediate conflicts using Nonviolent Communication (NVC)\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\u25cf Participate on the Judicial Committee\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\u25cf Participate in School Meeting\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\u25cf Work with committees that may include staff, students, and parents to make decisions\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tcollaboratively\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\u25cf Communicate professionally with current and prospective parents, board members and\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tother stakeholders\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\u25cf Registrar duties ensuring that all contracts and paperwork are completed for each family\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\u25cf Track financial expenditures in partnership with the SSA treasurer\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\u25cf Host Information sessions and parent nights\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\u25cf Maintain and post on the SSA Facebook page, website and blog\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tQualifications:\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\u25cf Belief that all students know their best path to learning\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\u25cf Belief in the nature of children (and adults!) to strive for personal growth; commitment to\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tone&rsquo;s own personal growth\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\u25cf Excellent communication and literacy skills, including expressing thought in writing and\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tinteracting effectively with children and adults from a wide variety of backgrounds\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\u25cf Be an interested, interesting, engaged, and passionate person\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\u25cf Strong self&shy;management skills, including high levels of initiative and ability to\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tauthentically and effectively prioritize\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\u25cf Ability to maintain confidentiality\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\u25cf Pass required background checks before beginning employment\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\u25cf Ability to trust in the school&rsquo;s democratic School Meeting and peer&shy;based judicial system\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tto adequately resolve conflicts and issues\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tAs one of a team of two paid staff, you will have a wide variety of responsibilities. SSA hopes to\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tgrow our community and the ideal candidate will be willing and able to act as one of the leaders\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tin this effort. While you do not need to have marketing experience, a willingness to gain skills in\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tthis area and to think flexibly and creatively about how we can promote our school are essential.\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tStaff members should be able to act as models of responsibility, resourcefulness, initiative, and\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tgood conflict resolution, and be willing to listen to and accept feedback. Staff are expected to\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tcontinually read about and work within the Sudbury model of education.\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tStaff are required to be at school 8:45am to 3:15pm Monday through Friday, with hours outside\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tof school hours expected for meetings and administrative or marketing work.
