{"id":9127,"date":"2016-03-28T11:53:32","date_gmt":"2016-03-28T15:53:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.educationrevolution.org\/store\/?p=9127"},"modified":"2016-03-28T11:53:32","modified_gmt":"2016-03-28T15:53:32","slug":"pono-seeking-interns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.educationrevolution.org\/store\/pono-seeking-interns\/","title":{"rendered":"Pono Seeking Interns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\tPono Seeking Interns\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tPono, an independent, democratic, and outdoor center in Manhattan, is &nbsp;currently seeking&nbsp;interns in the following areas:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\tMathematics\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tCooking\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tForeign Languages (preferably, Arabic, Spanish, or Japanese)\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tMusic\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n\tPono is set up with the purpose of immersing children in stimulating environments and&nbsp;harmonious learning communities where each child&rsquo;s interests and natural, innate desire to&nbsp;learn are cherished and nurtured as the children are guided to becoming balanced human&nbsp;beings.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tIndividuals who are balanced (personally stable, ethical and moral), energetic, child-at-heart&nbsp;(love to be around children and are very good listeners), interested in non-traditional educational&nbsp;philosophies, and who have a strong background in humane education are encouraged to&nbsp;apply.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tGeneral responsibilities include teaching children experientially in the out-of-doors, leading&nbsp;some lessons, and sharing daily responsibilities with staff members. Experience in teaching is helpful, but not required.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAt Pono, interns are given an intensive workshop on democratic education before they start&nbsp;teaching and are required to participate in our Professional Development Program which&nbsp;focuses on democratic education, listening to children, communication, and prejudice reduction.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tTo apply, submit a cover letter, current resume, and any additional information you think we&nbsp;should consider in evaluating you as a candidate.
