Our approach to learning does not include tests, grades, or teachers leading lectures. Our classroom structure is unique. It ensures that Guides create and facilitate the learning environment, but empowers students to take ownership of their individual learning path and collective classroom governance.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tFor the 2016-17 school year, we have two mixed-age learning studios.&nbsp; Each studio is led by two Guides working in close partnership to support a class of about 20 students. We are currently accepting applications for a Guide in our North Studio, which hosts our 9-13 year old students (roughly 4-8th grade). &nbsp;&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tPosition Description:\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tGuides help each student find their calling and reach their full potential by:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>\n\t\t\tsupporting individual students in setting and achieving their learning goals\n\t\t<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>\n\t\t\ttracking student progress in order to proactively identify and address barriers to success\n\t\t<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>\n\t\t\tassisting students in identifying and pursuing their passions\n\t\t<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>\n\t\t\tfacilitating Socratic group discussions\n\t\t<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>\n\t\t\tevaluating and refining the existing curriculum\n\t\t<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>\n\t\t\tdesigning and experimenting with new projects, tools, and approaches\n\t\t<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>\n\t\t\torganizing speakers and field trips to inspire students\n\t\t<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>\n\t\t\tcreating and maintaining a studio environment that supports and motivates students\n\t\t<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>\n\t\t\tacting as a role model as an independent learner on a Hero&rsquo;s Journey\n\t\t<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>\n\t\t\tdocumenting learning through student projects, achievements, and everyday activity\n\t\t<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>\n\t\t\tcommunicating actively with parents\n\t\t<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>\n\t\t\tguiding students through the creation of their learning portfolios\n\t\t<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tQualifications:\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tWe are looking for Guides with a deep curiosity about life, a lifelong love of learning, endless patience, and an entrepreneurial spirit. Candidates should have proven excellence in guiding others, whether in or out of a school environment. Montessori, project-based and\/or experiential learning experience is a plus.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tWe seek Guides who love to experiment, evaluate, and improve on everything they do. Candidates should have proven excellence in written and oral communication skills, and be comfortable using and learning a variety of technology tools.
