Personal and professional wilderness travel experience
Teaching experience and enthusiasm for working with students of high school and college age and their families.
Excellent writing and communications skills
Strong technology and office systems skills
Masters degree in education/administration/
Spanish language a plus
Schedule
Full-Time, Year-Round
Occasional requirements to teach and travel with programs in the field,
and coordinate and attend weekend events or attend conferences (approximately 12 weekends per year)

Vermont Semester Program Teacher
January – June 2013
The Vermont Semester is a group of 12 high-school and college-age students who come together to study and live together for a five month period – January through June.
Position:
We have a full time program coordinator and administrator, as well as a core group of highly skilled wilderness instructors who return year after year to teach the basic skills and crafts of living and traveling outdoors, and who will guide the expedition through the woods and rivers of Vermont and New Hampshire. What we seek is a teacher with outdoor adventure skills, practical and wilderness living experiences, and a love for sharing a simple life with young people.
Qualifications:
• Wilderness expedition experience. Substantial expedition experience in remote environments.
• Adventure sports expertise, or substantial experience and aspiration to become an expert in one of Kroka’s adventure sports
• Commitment to personal fitness
• Love of teaching and mentoring children and youth: enjoys working with wide range of ages, documented and referenced previous teaching experience
• Commitment to sustainability: Personal commitment to simple living, along with experience living in the community of people with simplified personal needs
• Professional certifications and education: WFR, Wilderness or Red Cross Lifeguard, college degree or equivalent life experience, Rescue experience
• Personal artistic skills: strong singing voice, handwork skills, visual and performing arts experience
• International/cultural diversity: experience living, working, and traveling in other countries and cultures.
Schedule
January – June 2013 (with some preparation work in December 2012)
Compensation & Benefits
Pay based on qualifications and tenure at Kroka: $275- $575 per week

Seasonal Teaching Staff
April – October 2013
Seasonal Staff will enjoy working with our spring school programs, our summer camp programs, and our fall school season. Arrive in the spring to open our base cam facility, and stay through the beautiful fall to see the season to a close.
Responsibilities: Seasonal staff will teach and support wilderness adventure education programs for ages 8-18 at Kroka’s base camp and on expeditions throughout New England.
