B rooklyn Free School is an independent K-12 day school currently with 60 students and 12 full and part time staff located in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. The school is seeking a part time Administrative Assistant to work two days per week, five hours per day, reporting to the Executive Director.  The salary is $18 per hour. The position begins the week of August 27, 2012 and ends the week of June 17, 2013.

Tasks include assisting the Director with school administrative and building operational tasks which may include the completion of various New York State reports, New York City Department requests and inspections, assisting with school attendance, scheduling, and testing, Quickbooks data entry and reports, assisting with the petty cash system, ordering of books, supplies, and equipment, answering phone calls, receiving and distributing mail, filing, restocking supplies around the building, and other tasks.

Requirements for the position are the ability to perform tasks with accuracy and good organizational skills. The successful candidate will possess good computer skills, particularly with spreadsheets and be adept at navigating online programs. Dependability is critical as this is a small school with a limited staff.
